Our birthday gift update- Cooking Classes

As you may recall Darren and I took some cooking lessons at Sur La Table. Below are pictures of a few things that we made!

The first class was called Each and Every Recipe and we made a ton of good food. Including a Roasted Beet Salad with Fennel, Orange, and Goat cheese, Pan Seared Salmon, a Potato Celeriac Puree (I didn't even know what Celeriac was), and a Sublime Lemon Mousse (not pictured)! It was awesome and a delicious meal! As an added bonus, our teacher showed us an appetizer making pinwheels using puff pastry and cheese (also pictured). This puff pastry dish has become our signature appetizer for any party we go to. We've made dishes for Darren's family's Thanksgiving and my family's Christmas!

Our 2nd class was holiday desserts. We learned to make White Chocolate Souffle Cakes with a Raspberry Chocolate Sauce, Pecan Rum Tart, Cranberry Upside down cake, Dried Fruit and Nut bark, and Orange- Chocolate Biscotti! Those were delicious. The cranberry Upside down cake was our favorite. This yielded mixed successes. We were able to make it successfully for Christmas with Darren's parents but not as much for Christmas with my family. But that's what cooking is all about!
